Experience includes: 25 years at a senior level in professional practice, with a broad client base, including advising professional service firms in many sectors. Successfully leading growing offices, disposing of NMGW to Aim listed Numerica, and being identified as one of the main reasons for that transaction, led the Bristol office into BDO in 2005, again as a key player. Integrated the office into both new firms and mentored key team members to remain throughout these transactions. Successful at raising firms profile in marketplace, producing focused sales and marketing programmes resulting in the generation of significant fees through building excellent client relationships, recruiting and motivating teams of people, all through enthusiasm, delegation, training and mentoring.
Achievements
- Lead partner of the Bristol office for Numerica and BDO for 8 years. For BDO had responsibility for whole office growth, developed brand awareness in the marketplace, office turnover grew by >100% over 4 years, staff numbers from 30 to 70, and delivered a significantly increased profit. In BDO staff survey Bristol office was very highly rated compared to other offices in the firm.
- Won a key new audit and advisory assignment and within 6 months led the BDO team doing an MBO for the client. This included lead advisory, funding and tax planning.
- Respected advisor to management teams in the professional services sector. Advised on mergers, LLP conversions, profit improvement strategies, working capital management, Partner and employee reward packages, practice funding etc.
- Advised on client acquisitions and disposals, tax efficient group structures, exit strategies, share schemes and reward packages, delivered effective and efficient assurance services.
- Responsible for sales and marketing in Bristol office for 15 years. Achieved a high profile for all 3 firms (see career summary). Developed stream, sector and individual plans focused on key target businesses. Resulting in significant opportunities and enabling the office to achieve its targets,
- Received a client satisfaction rating of 9.5/10 from largest client whilst achieving increased billing and delivering internal cost efficiencies on them. Office received improved client satisfaction ratings from clients, year on year.
- Developed intra and inter office communication and team building resulting in a cohesive, focused office delivering cross service line client awareness and increased billing opportunities for both Bristol and other offices.
- Accomplished presenter at both internal and external events. Presented technical seminars, facilitated discussion meetings and hosted, and spoken at dinners with high profile speakers.
